  • The Dursley Male Voice Choir
    on Saturday 25th February 2012
    The concert, at Lister's Hall in the Chantry Centre, was a fantastic success.
    Not only was it a brilliant evening, we also made over £2,500 for the Friends. Wow!
    Many many thanks to both Dursley Male Voice Choir and Dyffryn Tywi Male Choir and to everyone who helped make the evening go so well. But, most of all, thanks to everyone who came to see the show.

  • The Christmas Fayre

    Early estimates show we made a profit of about £300 with the Christmas Fayre.
    So, a big thank you to Shirley and all those who were able to help out. Also, a big thank you to everyone who came.

  • Supper Dance
    on Saturday 15th October 2011
    Great fun was had by all at our Supper Dance, in Berkeley. The Rednock Swing Band was great, and we raised over £700. A fantastic amount. Thanks you to everyone who came along, we hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.
    A big thank you to Myrtle, who made all the arrangements - Brilliant!

  • Second Quiz Night at the Community Centre
    on: Friday 5th August 2011
    The pub quiz, at the Dursley Community Centre, was a great success, raising about £100 for the Vale Community Hospital League of Friends.
    Yours truly didn't fare too well though! But his team didn't quite come last!
    Thanks again to Jane Ball for the work she put into this to make it a great evening out.

  • The Fashion Show
    on Tuesday 19th July 2011
    The fashion show in Cam raised over £567.
    Thank you to all who went to the show, we hope you all enjoyed it. Special thanks to Myrtle for her hard work getting this event organised. A great result!

  • Town Hall Teas
    on Sunday 8th May 2011
    The teas and cakes event at the town hall raised over £50. Thank you to all who helped by making cakes and assisting with the stall and the bric-a-brac sale. Special thanks to Chris and Linda Cherry, who made a tremendous effort.
  • First Quiz Night at the Community Centre
    on Friday 1st April 2011
    The quiz night at the community centre raised over £51.
    Thank you to all who took part and helped create a great evening and big thanks to Jane Ball for organising it all.

  • The Primary Care Trust
    paves the way for full charity status
    The Primary Care Trust has given the Friends a massive £5,000, allowing us to become a 'bona-fide' charity. This means we will soon be able to reclaim tax from donations, a great benefit to both us and our donors, especially businesses. Now is a great time to give...
  • Gloucestershire County Council
    also paves the way for full charity status
    Gloucester County Council has awarded us a grant of £2,500, which will help us become a 'bona-fide' charity, and give us a good chance to start some new ideas to raise even more... Now is a better time to give...
    Of course, we're still waiting for various Government departments to get their acts together, so we can claim tax releif as a registered charity.

  • The Pancake Race

    The pancake race in Dursley was run for the Friends of Vale Hospital and it raised over £145. A big thank you to everyone who was involved.
  • A Quick Visit
    on Thursday 3rd March 2011
    Doctors, PCT and NHS officers visited the building site that will become our new Vale Community Hospital. They reported that it feels a lot bigger than they had originally thought. The early spate of bad weather last year has delayed works a little, but the builders are still hoping to complete the project on time. The internal walls for the rooms and surgeries are all up and the building is really starting to take shape. Hopefully we'll get some photos from them soon, to show the progress so far...
  • Second Public Meeting
    at: Dursley Community Centre
    The meeting was a success, with some friends visiting from Berkeley Hospital.
